ABOUT THE SUMMIT

This summit was sponsored by COMCARE and the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association. It was the first in a series of meetings that are being held to aid communities in the procurement and deployment of an Integrated Patient Tracking System.

WillChapleau

The basis of this summit was a white paper of high level requirements for an integrated patient tracking system. The goal was to gain consensus on the requirements from a broad practitioner community.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the conference were sevenfold:

  • Provide a forum where practitioners, technology vendors, and other interested parties can share ideas about patient tracking systems and needs;
  • Present the high-level requirements defined by four practitioner-based subcommittees;

Nona

  • Ensure that the requirements are representative of the entire community and address recent lessons learned form several emergency events;
  • Gain practitioner consensus;
  • Identify potential technologies that could be incorporated into a solution;

RaytheonBooth

  • Explore obstacles and challenges to implementing patient tracking systems;
  • Encourage future dialogue and identify actions for subsequent phases of the project.
